Castle Rock’s downtown gathering place, Festival Park, has been under construction for the past year as the town got underway with a $6.9 million project to redesign the park, but it’s now open to the public and back to hosting town events.
The town scheduled a ribbon cutting ceremony ahead of the annual Starlighting event on Nov 18. As some work is set to continue, an official grand opening celebration is scheduled for June 2.
For now, residents can take self-guided tours of the park’s newest amenities, such as a public pavilion, an overlook above the gulch, creekside picnic areas and public fire pits. The redesign also included a permanent, partial closure of Second Street between Wilcox and Perry streets — now a promenade fit with benches, lighting and water-conserving landscaping. More information about the project is available at CRgov.com/FestivalPark.
